I was in Austin, TX last week for work and had the pleasure of eating at Rudi's and Bone Daddy's. It was my first trip to both restaurants. Rudi's is a traditional BBQ joint and we had smoked prime rib, brisket, sausage, and chopped beef along with beans and cream corn. Everything was good but the prime rib and cream corn were exceptional. Bone Daddy's is a little more upscale place. I had a sausage platter that was good but the main attraction is the smokin hot skantily clad staff (think Hooter's on steroids meets BBQ). They could have served cardboard with catsup and I may not have noticed. ![]() I look forward to going back to both restaurants.

I have never tried the Rudy's in in the capital. However even though it is on the far side of Waco my old pick up some how mysteriously can't leave town unless it visits the parking lot at Rudy's.

I agree - Rudy's prime rib and corn are exceptional. Every time I'm in Austin, it's my first stop even though the rest of their BBQ isn't the best in town (It's still pretty darn good tho.)

Rudy's is like a McDonald's for BBQ, we have one in Tyler...it's ok. If you want good BBQ in Austin Salt Lick Bar-B-Que is the place!!! It's not down town Austin, it's out in the middle of nowhere (actually in Driftwood), but worth the trip.

It begins and ends at Franklin's in Austin. Franklin Barbecue If you are that close though you need to take a trip to Lockhart or Llano. |
