    Default Suger-Free and/or Low-Fat BBQ Sauce?

Alright... I know this is probably heresy, but I was wondering if anyone has a good sugar-free and/or Low-fat BBQ sauce recipe?

I know that most Carolina Sauces would fall into that category since they're not much more than vinegar and spices, but for a tomato-based, KC-style sauce, I was wondering if anyone had ever tried anything good?

You can use Splenda in place of the sugar in sauces and rubs. By the way the brown stuff you use even less.

    BluDawg's
    Sugar Free BBq Sauce

    2 tbl oil
    2 tsp Onion powder
    1 tbl Paprika
    pinch ground clove
    8 oz can tomato sauce
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 lemon juiced 2-3 Tbl.
    1/4 cup brown sugar(Splenda)
    1 tb Worcestershire
    1 tsp dry mustard
    1 tsp of salt
    1 tsp black pepper
    1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Get out a 2 quart sauce pan and heat up the oil. Add the tomato sauce and cook it over med high heat 10 min.stirring constantly to caramelize the tomato and bring out its natural sweetness. reduce heat to med low.Add all of the other ingredients. * Stir everything up and let the mixture simmer over medium low heat for about 15 minutes. The mixture will thicken up some, but it won't be as thick as commercial barbecue sauce. Makes about 3 cups
*Place the sauce in a pan and put in the smoker for an hour or two if you like it smoky.
Sugar free Jams thinned with a little lemon juice and some BBQ Rub Make a nice glaze on ribs
I never met a cow that I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

I've never used Splenda in cooking before. I'll have to try it.

    Thanks.
